Thank You Albion Elementary Second Grade Students!

The Arc of Orleans County would like to thank the Albion Elementary second grade class for their hard work in raising money for Camp Rainbow. The students took part in a week long spelling test after asking their family and friends for pledges to benefit the Camp. Their efforts helped raise $5,146.45 to help with the upkeep of the grounds and pool, and purchase items needed at Camp this summer.
Lucas Powley
Lucas Powley was the top student, raising $635.00. The top class was Mrs. Rightmyer’s with $1,199.30; the class received a pizza party for their efforts. The entire second grade, along with teachers and Arc chaperones enjoyed a morning of fun.

The Arc of Orleans County is thankful to all the second grade students and teachers for all they have done to assist Camp Rainbow. doing arts and crafts, story time, outdoor games and music.

Arc of Orleans County Awarded Grant from NYSARC Trust

The Trustees of the NYSARC, Inc. Trust have approved a remainder fund grant of $8,000 per chapter to provide recreational opportunities for people they support.  Last year the Chapter received a similar grant from NYSARC Trust Services to ninety of our individuals. They went to Hidden Valley and Corning Glass Center where they each got to make a glass flower. They spent the day at Seabreeze Amusement Park and had a picnic.  The individuals also went to the Strasenburgh Planetarium and the Rochester Museum & Science Center. One of our sites purchased some arts and crafts and activities for the residents to work on.  The individuals were able to attend several Buffalo Bills and Rochester Amerks games.  They also were able to hold several holiday themed celebrations due to the generosity of this grant.  The Arc of Orleans County plans to use the funds in the same fashion this year.

In addition, remainder fund grants totaling $ 1,466,000 were awarded to support NYSARC guardianship programs statewide.  A total of $1,874,000 in remainder grants was awarded in 2015 to support recreation and guardianship statewide.  NYSARC Trust Services administers supplemental needs trusts that enable people with disabilities to remain in their home and community while retaining Medicaid services and other government benefits.   Information is available on how NYSARC Trust Services may benefit you:  our website www.nysarctrustservices.org , phone 1-518-439-8323, toll free phone 1-800-735-8924 or e-mail info@nysarctrustservices.org.
