Please Share Your Stories on NYSARC's Online Advocacy Platform!

On Nov. 21, Gov. Cuomo vetoed four bills representing critical issues to people with developmental disabilities and their families. The vetoes were a disappointment but they represent a beginning rather than an ending. With the Governor’s budget proposal due the end of next month, the vetoes represent an opportunity. In response, NYSARC has partnered with its sister organizations that serve people with developmental disabilities statewide to reach out to the media, the public and, most importantly, connect with the Legislature and the Governor. There is an exploding crisis faced by families because New York State has effectively stopped developing new supports and services for people with developmental disabilities who are living at home with aging family members.

NYSARC has created an online advocacy platform for emailing and petitioning Gov. Cuomo, emailing your Legislator, and sharing your stories in advance of the State Budget proposal expected to be finalized Jan. 27, 2015.  Please use the link below to share your story.

Thank You Kenlou Foundation!

The Arc recently received a $5,500 grant to be utilized by our Vocational Department. The funding will be used to purchase training supplies to assist the people we serve with preparing for employment.

We are grateful to the Kenlou Foundation as they have been a strong supporter of The Arc of Orleans for well over a decade. In 2011, they were our Legacy of Love Leadership Award Recipient. This award is presented to an organization/foundation in recognition of their outstanding work on behalf of people with disabilities.

Thank you Kenlou for your support and generosity of the men, women, and children we serve!

Tomorrow is ROC THE DAY!

ROC The Day is December 2, 2014

Last year, more than $780,574 was raised in the 24 hour time frame!

For more information and to see other participating organizations go to the ROC THE DAY website.  The Arc has two programs enrolled in the ROC THE DAY event - Meals on Wheels of Orleans County and Camp Rainbow.
