Please Join the Legislative Advocate Network

Concerned about funding of services provided by The Arc of Orleans County? Worried about how the Governor-elect’s budget may affect the services you or your family member currently enjoys? The Arc of Orleans County’s parent organization, NYSARC, Inc., has a rich history of legislative advocacy. During these very uncertain political and economic times, NYSARC along with its chapters and other major not-for-profit agencies serving people with disabilities are working together to educate the Governor-elect and the legislature on the critical importance of maintaining funding for our services. The next critical step in NYSARC’s ongoing efforts is the establishment of the Legislative Advocate Network (LAN) to provide families, self advocates, members, staff, and other supporters with the latest legislative information that affects our association and services for people with disabilities. NYSARC will keep the LAN up-to-date with the latest legislative information, from public appearances to pending policies. NYSARC will also provide training and additional resources.

If you would like to become a member of the Legislative Advocate Network and work to advocate on behalf of thousands of people with disabilities and their families, please email Kellie Spychalski, Assistant Executive Director of The Arc of Orleans County at kspychalski@arcoforleans.org. Members of the LAN will be sent a welcome packet and will then be kept informed on a regular basis through e-alerts, the NYSARC & Arc of Orleans County website, and phone calls. In the event of significant threats to our programs and services, we will ask that LAN members move quickly. Your advocacy is critical!
