Albion 2nd Grade Students Raise Money for Camp Rainbow

The second grade students at Albion's Ronald L. Sodoma Elementary School held a Spell-A-Thon recently and raised $6,597.46 to benefit The Arc's Camp Rainbow. As a thank you for their efforts, the students enjoyed a day at Camp on Thursday, June 16th, experiencing activities as the campers would.

During the closing ceremonies, the teachers and students presented Camp Rainbow with a blue spruce tree (see photo) and a book they put together that contained games that the campers can play using their parachute. Names of students who received 100% on their spelling tests were announced, along with the student who raised the most money. That student was Zachary Kilner from Mr. VanCamp's class; Zachary raised $415.00. Mrs. Beach's class was the top class, raising $1,874.40. They enjoyed a pizza party in their classroom on June 9th.

The Arc would like to thank all the students, teachers, parents, donors, and volunteers who helped make the Spell-A-Thon and the field trip to Camp Rainbow a success. Special thank you to Mrs. Scharping for her planting and flowering skills.
