Marge Belmont, Vickie Randall, Chris Capurso, and Terry Condoluci, all staff at Family Support Services, named Team of the Quarter for January through March 2011. One Friday afternoon in March, an individual we serve had a crisis situation. At a routine doctor's appointment for the individual, the individual's natural support needed to be raced to the hospital due to a severe medical condition. The individual had no other supports available and had significant disabilities that would not allow them to be by themselves at the appointment. Marge was the Medicaid Driver and instantly tried calling supports for this person. Marge was able to get a hold of Terry Condoluci Medicaid Service Coordinator. Even though Terry had gone home sick that day she was able to come back into work to assist with this situation. Terry was able to work with the Western New York Developmental Disabilities Service Organization and obtain emergency placement for this individual. Vickie Randall, Recreation Manager, was able to assist with the transporting of the individual. This meant getting prescriptions from the doctor, clothes from their house, medications and working with the WNYDDSO until 10:30 pm that night. Chris Capurso, Medicaid Service Coordinator, along with Marge Belmont picked up the individual when they were able to return home. When they arrived at the individual's home, the support system had another medical crisis and was found unconscious. Marge and Chris called 911 and then worked to get supports in place for this individual. This is a situation that every MSC dreads. We have been complimented by the WNYDDSO on our response and our ability to work together to make things happen for this individual we serve. If it wasn't for this strong team effort the person we serve may not be safe today.
Thank you, Marge, Terry, Vickie, and Chris, for your hard work and commitment to the individuals we serve!
