“Bully” is a powerful documentary that follows five students and their families over the course of a school year. Each story represents a different facet of the bullying crisis. Celebrate with us! March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

March is Development Disabilities Awareness Month not only in New York State, but across the country.  In recognition of this special month, The Arc of Orleans County, along with our sister chapters of NYSARC, Inc. and organizations nationwide, are using this opportunity to increase the community's understanding of the people we support, including their abilities and the contributions these individuals have made.

Individuals with developmental disabilities lead independent, productive lives and are contributing members in their community.  Children with developmental disabilities have the opportunity to attend school in regular classrooms; they are able to study and learn; they are able to make friendships with others their own age.  Adults are working out in the community, learning valuable job skills that will take them as far as their dreams allow them to go.

Since 1970, The Arc of Orleans County has been serving the needs of individuals, both children and adults, through programs and services including Rainbow Preschool, Supported Employment, our Orleans Enterprises workshop, Self Advocacy All-Star group, Recreation, and much more.

We invite you to celebrate Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month with us!  We also ask you to consider becoming a member of The Arc of Orleans County and help to increase our voice in Albany.  The Annual Appeal and Membership mailing will be going out in the mail very soon!  If you are not on our mailing list and would like to become a member, please contact Denise Withey, Community Relations Specialist, at 585-589-5516 ext. 227 or by email at dwithey@arcoforleans.org.
