Mr. Dean Wolfe Honored, Named "Board Member Emeritus"

Dean Wolfe, Arc Founder and "Board Member Emeritus"
On Wednesday, August 21st, The Arc of Orleans County honored Dean Wolfe, one of the founders of the Agency.  Surrounded by family and friends, Wolfe received accolades from Arc of Orleans Executive Director Kellie Spychalski, NYS State Senator George Maziarz, NYS Assemblyman Steve Hawley, and Orleans County Legislator and Arc Board Member Don Allport, for his many years of service to The Arc of Orleans County, serving as past Board President and Secretary, and as a member of many of the Agency’s committees.

Wolfe and his late wife, Marian, along with several other Orleans County families, met in the late 1960’s to discuss the goals and dreams of the children with disabilities. The Arc of Orleans County was founded in 1970, serving around 300 children.  Since that time, the Agency has served thousands of children and adults with developmental and other disabilities, and also serves those with mental illness and, more recently, the senior population with the addition of the Nutrition Program.

Members of the Arc’s Board of Directors were also on hand as Board President Ken Barchet named Wolfe “Board Member Emeritus.”  In addition, the Agency also revealed a new sign created by Stanton Signs in Medina, naming their conference room “The Wolfe Family Conference Room,” in honor of Dean and Marian Wolfe.
