Celebrate Safety

The fourth of July means gathering with family and friends, enjoying good food and outdoor activities, and of course, fireworks. While fireworks are a staple of celebrations this time of year, they can also be very dangerous. Follow these safety tips to avoid injuries:

1. Obey local laws. Do not use fireworks if they are illegal where you live.
2. Use fireworks outdoors only.
3. Use fireworks only as intended - do not try to combine or alter them.
4. Always have a hose handy for possible mishaps.
5. Keeps spectators a safe distance away.
6. Wear safety goggles and use caution when shooting off fireworks.
7. Supervise children very carefully during fireworks displays, especially if they are handling sparklers.
8. Never create or use homemade fireworks of any kind!

The Arc wishes you all a happy and safe July 4th!
