Stay Safe in the Summer Sun

Summer is the beginning, which means plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy out in the sun. Make sure you stay safe and protect your loved ones from the sun and heat with these safety tips:

1. Wear sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or greater, and don't forget to reapply throughout the day - even on cloudy days.

2. Protect your eyes with sunglasses - make sure they are labeled as blocking 99-100 percent of UV rays.

3. Wear a hat that shades your face, neck, and ears.

4. When possible, avoid sun exposure between 10 am and 2 pm.

5. Drink plenty of water on hot days and do not drink alcohol or caffeine, both of which can dehydrate you.

6. Avoid overexerting yourself when temperatures are high, and take time to rest in the shade or indoors when possible.
